My mom was my best friend. This is one of my favorite pictures of her and I. Three days prior to this memory we found out that her cancer was terminal, and we were given three weeks with her. My mom, in all of her beauty and persistence, stayed with us for 10 weeks. Myself, my mother, and my sister-in-law went to a local nail salon so she could enjoy a manicure/pedicure with her girls. In taking this picture, I knew our time was limited, but I wanted to embrace this moment with her. We had an incredible day, laughing and enjoying each other's company. In addition, this picture was taken on April 21st, 2018, my mother and father's 38th anniversary. We celebrated as a family and embraced our time together.

My mother passed away on June 26, 2018. Looking back on her final 10 weeks, I am so thankful for the care of the in-home nursing programs at Trellis Supportive Care who walked with us as we navigated a foreign journey, and reassured us that we were providing the best care possible during her transition. I will forever miss my mother, my best friend, but as we say in our family, "she isn't missing a thing."
